The Thomistic Institute Reading Group returns this March to the John Paul II Student Centre!
This semester we'll be diving into Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, one of the most widely read books during the medieval period read by both philosophers (like St Thomas Aquinas) and non-philosophers (including poets and monarchs) alike!
Boethius was a Roman senator and Christian theologian often described as “the last of the Romans and the first of the scholastics”. He was the conduit of ancient Greek thought to the medievals. The Consolation of Philosophy, Boethius' most influential work, was written while he was awaiting his execution and wrestling with Providence and the problem of suffering.
Do not miss out! We meet at the John Paul II Student Centre starting at 6:15pm sharp and finishing at 7:45pm.
